Same form, same holding time, only this one is on parallel bars.

Im pretty sure that Chen Yibing or Yuri van Gelder (and other elite rings athletes) could hold full planche that long with that form, only if they care about it. :) Edited by Paf

I prefer the form showed in the first video to me it looks stricter than the second one, we're on the same page, any ring specialist could break that record and also using better form.

Hi guys ! What about this video, what are your thoughts ? Is valid ? Is he using proper form ? There is anyone who can hold it longer ? or it is a real record ?

The form is not perfect, but this is definitely a legit full planche and the guy here is very strong in it. I seldom hear people able to hold a legit full planche for over 15 seconds. Mikhail Grekov's looks slightly better overall, but it's easier on parallel bars though.

I have heard of Yan Mingyong (elite rings specialist) being able to hold it for 30 seconds and also Coach Sommer said JJ Gregory (who had elite ring strength) held it for 30 seconds and it was held after a prone planche push-up. There are however no videos though. I also remember Roger Harrell saying that he saw another gymnast hold it for over 40 seconds which is super rare even among elite gymnasts.

During the course of Level 2 gymnastic coach here in Italy the national director showed to the participants a video where Morandi probably 8-9 years ago performed 8 full planche press to HS (during training as a station of circuit) with hold at the top position on handstand and 2'' hold on planche. planche was completely with protraction and impressive lower back PPT.

there was a continue rounded line from upper back to lower butt.

think that normally for a show an elite gymnast performs something very light that not require a specific warm up. Matteo has a standard routine in rings  that is composed by no effort muscle up, SA full planche press to hs, lower to planche, L cross, press to maltese , lower into cross usually held for 8-10 seconds. no exit because he usually do not perform to much warm up.

So do you know how long he can hold the full planche and were those 8 planche presses done on rings?

No no, on pbars...i do not know how much can he hold it..but I remember that one of his coach said to me that if you can insert an element on rings routine you are doing it using about the 65-60% of your strength or less.

Incredible display of strength and great form. I'm trying to get to that point as well. His dedication to training is evident in his ability to perform the planche.
