Can't feel glutes when upside down

Hello: I can tight my glutes hard anytime, but when I'm holding a handstand, I can't seem to feel them. 

 

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

have you tried against a wall in a Wall HS? before we try it against the wall, let's check mobility while supine on the ground. 

 

 

lay supine, put the arms overhead, and then while keeping PPT, point your legs and reach out with them, like if you were a vector

 

PPT has a priority here, for the purpose of seeing if Hip Flexor flexibility/mobility is the bottleneck. if it points along the floor, you're straight as a whistle! if not, you need to work on that flexiblity. I'm currently fastidiously working on it because it's the reason why my glutes aren't activating completely.
