Brian Li
Not correct, koji yamamuro performed during last competition at worlds in wanterphttp://m.youtube.com/watch?v=hzM_RxPhFtUThat was an inverted cross press to HS. Inverted cross butterfly would be from inverted hang press to inverted cross.

Jon Douglas
Inv cross to HS and back, sorry. Meant to quote Alexs post.Would love to see inverted butterfly. Wonder if it's possible or whether we have a bit of evolving to do first
Brian Li
I tried doing a simulation of an inverted butterfly with dumbbells before and the inverted butterfly portion did not feel that much harder thanthe press from inverted cross to HS. Don't know how much harder the real inverted butterfly is compared to the real inverted cross press HS.

WitnessTheFitness
Coach, how much room for growth do you think there is in gymnastics ability? Athletes have come a long way in the past decades, but now that so many gymnasts are training hardcore since childhood, it's hard to imagine the boundaries of what is possible being pushed too much further. Joshua Slocum
Coach, how much room for growth do you think there is in gymnastics ability? Athletes have come a long way in the past decades, but now that so many gymnasts are training hardcore since childhood, it's hard to imagine the boundaries of what is possible being pushed too much further. About ten years ago the governing body for gymnastics, FIG, changed the code of points. The new code rewards difficulty much more than the previous code. In the past ten years, there's been a corresponding growth in the routine difficulty you see at world-class competitions. Even though the sport had been around for a while, there was still quite a lot of room for growth. That said, it has been quite some time since anyone performed a strength skill on rings that was truly new (as opposed to a variation on an old skill; i.e. same press, different final hold position), so it may be that most of the things that can be done on rings already have been. WitnessTheFitness
Good point. Just never know when some athlete with the perfect combination of genetics, talent, training, and good fortune will come along and change the game, though, I guess.
