Back Lever Curls vs. Front Lever Rows vs. Curls

Recommended Posts

Remember, the biceps are not exclusively elbow flexors. Passive insufficiency applies here: the further the stretch, the harder it becomes. Also, there are 4 elbow flexors that need to be accounted for in these advanced bent arm pulling elements.

There are a lot more than that. Everything that attaches to the humerus, which includes the epicondyles, bears quite a lot of extra stress during elbow flexion. Pronator teres, radialis, supinator, the large wrist flexors, and many of the wrist extensor muscles, all originate on the upper arm, and during elbow flexion they WILL bear quite a bit of stress. You can feel this during more advanced movements, particularly on the floor and on parallel bars, but also on rings since you are adding stress at both ends with the false grip.

You can't isolate things when they all exist in a continuous line of connective tissue, and you need to account for everything that crosses the joints about which torque is generated. Not just the textbook muscles.
