Not too sure I precisely understand what you want to accomplish Firmgood, so it is hard to help you, but if what you are looking for is a challenge, here is one simple one that will get your heart rate going, your little voices screaming, and maybe also put some hair on your chest:

 

Grab 2 kettlebells - choose medium heavy ones for you; if in doubt, err on the lighter side.

Walk away from home until you can't hold them any longer.

Without putting them down, turn around and go back.

 

Rest.

Hah, that's great. I actually employ it occasionally.

I grab two 20kg bells, walk down the stairs (7 floors), then curse the elevator and walk back up.

"Man-makers" are pretty good.



I like the idea of the kettlebells. Added difficulty: instead of two medium weight bells, grab one heavy one. Switch arms on the way back.
