Come spend a jam-packed weekend with Coach Sommer (long-time US Jr National Team Coach, author of Building the Gymnastic Body and founder of GymnasticBodies.com) and the Gymnastic Bodies Team.
The worldwide GB Seminars are designed expressly for Crossfitters, Gymnasts, MMA, Olympic Lifters, Rock Climbers, Parkour, Free Running, Yoga and Fitness Enthusiasts to learn gymnastics strength training in a safe, professional, hands-on environment. Anyone who is committed to increasing their bodyweight strength mastery, mobility and quality of movement should make attending a definite priority.
Through the use of presentations by Coach Sommer, demonstrations by the Gymnastic Bodies staff and your own hands-on guided physical performance, we will explore, IN DEPTH, the four components of Gymnastics Strength Training (GST); Fundamental Straight Arm Strength (FSAS), BALANCE, Fundamental Bent Arm Strength (FBAS) and Dynamic Strength (DYNAMIC).
Beginners are absolutely welcome as no experience is necessary to start. In addition, more advanced groups are also available for those with more experience. All of the presentations/demonstrations are clear, concise and then the subsequent hands on practical applications are always carefully scaled to your own individual ability level and strengths. Your success and progress are our primary goal.
All needed joint mobility exercises and prehab series are directly inserted into the curriculum to support specific training movements and families of movements as appropriate for your current skill set. Attendees ARE NOT locked into only working at their current precise strength point, but will be exposed to an entire group of progressions and mobility work appropriate for their current GST level. This prevents being prematurely exposed to strength elements and mobility that are drastically above their current level, yet still allows for a fun and exciting exploration of the various GST components.
PLEASE NOTE that the book Building the Gymnastic Body is a required text book for this course and should be purchased and reviewed no later than 2 weeks prior to the beginning of the seminar.

SEMINAR HOURS
FSAS: Friday November 16 2012 18.30 - 22.00
BALANCE: Saturday November 17 2012 12.00 - 15.00
FBAS: Saturday November 17 2012 17.00 - 20.00
DYNAMIC: Sunday November 18 2012 10.00 - 13.00
FSAS is Fundamental Straight Arm Strength and focuses on the correct progressions and programming for achieving the front lever, planche, side lever and manna. The group will be broken into ability levels where they will focus on a specific set of progressions for each of the FSAS and mobility/prehab appropriate for their level.
If an attendee is quite advanced and has already achieved the FSAS elements, they will begin work on more advanced straight arm ring strength elements.
BALANCE is the development of core strength as it pertains to handstand shaping, the development of technical headstands and handstands as well as press handstand variations. Appropriate joint prehab and mobility series for preparing the wrists and shoulders for HS and Press HS work are covered in extensive detail. This is an essential session as press handstands are the single best exercise in all of gymnastics strength training (GST). There is no other single exercise that promotes strength, flexibility, coordination, balance and agility to the same degree.
FBAS is Fundamental Bent Arm Strength and focuses on the correct progressions and programming for eventually achieving a hollowback press to HS (HB; formerly referred to in the BtGB program as the Bower) and a one arm chin (OAC). The attendees will be broken into ability levels and will thereafter focus on a group of skills and joint prehab/mobility exercises appropriate for their current level of strength.
If an attendee is quite advanced and has already achieved HB and OAC, they will bein work on more advanced bent arm ring strength elements.
DYNAMIC is Dynamic Strength and will focus on the correct progressions and programming for building the body's ability to generate and absorb plyometric forces; e.g. locomotion, swinging, jumping, landing, rebounding utilizing both the legs and arms as generators of force.
Once again the attendees will be grouped according to ability levels and will be exposed to progressions and mobility that are appropriate for their current strength levels. Mobility and joint prehab series during this session include the ankle series, the achilles series, the knee series and hip series.
Dynamic Strength is the most potent of the gymnastics strength training (GST) components with the greatest potential to have the largest impact on the attendees further strength levels. This is the most exciting of all the sessions, but also the session which requires the most controlled exposure to appropriate training stimuli.
